I was never a big Mel Gibson fan, but I don't think I could suspend disbelief enough to see him in a good guy role again.
I liked Sheen's show enough but I don't think I would watch it again.the sympathetic part of me feels bad for him as a drug addicted lost soul, but the part of me that's been trying to make it as a writer for 16 years despises his inflated ego, greed, and lack of gratitude for all his success.Linda Fausnethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15827919559604929710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4706282221761427996.post-57336119181525386272011-03-01T07:41:06.214-08:002011-03-01T07:41:06.214-08:00Dennis Miller's brilliant political comedy is ...Dennis Miller's brilliant political comedy is ruined for me by the fact he became a neo-con sellout after 9/11.

Interestingly, I've had to learn to filter out your politics in order to keep learning anything from this blog.RonChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05482575664039497515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4706282221761427996.post-86844781462680390602011-03-01T05:56:30.039-08:002011-03-01T05:56:30.039-08:00Way I see it, when you watch something involving t...Way I see it, when you watch something involving the artist - like say child rapist Roman Polanski - you're giving them more money in the long run to commit more crimes. Therefore you need to turn your back on everything they make, like it or not. No Roman Polanski movies, no Victor Salva movies (he's a convicted child molester), no Charlie Sheen, no Lindsey Lohan, no Amy Winehouse, etc. (Granted, I only listen to music ranging from the big band to disco eras plus Broadway stuff. But still....)

I won't support criminals. So I won't have anything to do with their "art" and if other people thinks that's wrong of me - too bad. They can't have my hard earned money to use to commit more crimes.JamiSingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12756726189949304645noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4706282221761427996.post-87004513781559274392011-03-01T01:03:34.478-08:002011-03-01T01:03:34.478-08:00Scot - Wow. I agree with you on that one, though I still can't bring myself to watch any of the post-Hartman episodes knowing that Dick and Jon Lovitz loathed each other - and particularly given the reasons for that rift.

Hartman's SNL eps also occasionally provoke a bad memory, as I wish I'd never known that it was his wife that's pictured with him in his title card for several seasons. (And every now and then, Dennis Miller's brilliant political comedy is ruined for me by the fact he became a neo-con sellout after 9/11.) Some things aren't meant to be enjoyed with the benefit of retrospect, I guess. Or at least when the line between the performer and their infamous "disgrace" gets a little too blurry.

I guess for me it depends on the person and the circumstances I'm trying to ignore when watching their work. (A big occupational hazard in this industry is meeting someone who's work you liked, only to find out that they personally might be a jerk in real life. But then, it works the other way too. Meeting someone cool sometimes makes you root for them. The Bitter Script Readerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16575166527272639709noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4706282221761427996.post-71537730973940913052011-03-01T00:29:46.648-08:002011-03-01T00:29:46.648-08:00If I couldn't separate the art from the artist...If I couldn't separate the art from the artist, Andy Dick would make it impossible for me to watch NewsRadio ever again, and I refuse to give him that power.

I think I've seen every episode of Two and a Half Men (don't judge me! :( I like The Wire and Justified and Terriers and other good shows. Really. But sometimes a laugh is a laugh and they don't run six episodes of Community every weeknight). To answer your question, if I watched the next season, I would be trying to block out these latest antics the same way I've blocked out Terminal Velocity.Scot Boydhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11781536706181516950noreply@blogger.com
