Still like Avengers better, but it was ...Fun movie. Still like Avengers better, but it was close. And for the record, from day one I've disliked the Nolan movies.

For me the after-credit sequence wasn't bad because of who was in it or that it was meaningless. I just thought he LOOKED terrible. Like, really really poor CGI. The other version of him from some other time looked so much better if you know what I mean(and I think you do).Kangashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05306092145547452231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4706282221761427996.post-34722126009953414912014-08-07T04:03:38.683-07:002014-08-07T04:03:38.683-07:00Liked it. Really economical how they brought them all together.

Gotta say, for a project that was deemed "risky" by many, it sure does play it safe. Safe to the point of being borderline bland.

Bit over the whole "attack on a starship over a city" climax, too. Can we call that a Marvel trope yet?

The ubiquitous Marvel post-credit scene took me completely by surprise...Robin the Boy Wonderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17921851751602989602noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4706282221761427996.post-9175710606469937122014-08-04T09:42:23.232-07:002014-08-04T09:42:23.232-07:00I just got back from seeing Guardians of the Galax...I just got back from seeing Guardians of the Galaxy. Despite overall positive reviews and stellar recommendations from people whose opinions I value and trust, I found it only so-so at best. The humor was sophomoric—which I expected—but what I didn't expect was how boring it was. To be effective, humor relies on the element of surprise, and with only one or two exceptions, all the jokes were so blatantly broadcast that there was no opportunity to inject the unexpected.

In addition, despite a good cast, the acting was flat and one-dimensional. Michael Rooker (Yondu) put in the best show of any of them, and he was really just a blue Merle from the AMC series The Walking Dead. Apparently, the director's idea of instilling dramatic tension is to shout, in a rather flat manner. The characters, protagonists and villains, were all overly familiar stereotypes, and there wasn't a single moment in the development of the plot that was not predictable.

I am, frankly, surprised at the reviews this is getting. I was expecting a silly, rollicking space opera and instead got a noisy, explosion-ridden pastiche that bordered on tedium. Evidently, a lot of people are more easily pleased than I.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4706282221761427996.post-52304108521675484492014-08-04T09:13:20.302-07:002014-08-04T09:13:20.302-07:00It took me a long time to warm up to Slither, and ...It took me a long time to warm up to Slither, and I didn't mind the Dawn Of TheDead remake (directed by Zaxk Synder, of course) but I also had doubts about GoTG. I think Gunn has found his strengths in this film. It seems he does a lot better with ensemble casts. I also find it odd that some fans dislike a little cameo of another Marvel character in the end credits, but I thought, after two hours of being with a talking tree and raccoon, is such a character really out of place? Only way I can summarize is that some headed over to IMDB and found some trivia that there was supposed to be a different cameo (Adam Warlock) but changed to "set up the next Marvel Movie":. .If that is true, then the next MCU film is next year's Avengers The Age Of Ultron - which suggests...

No, I got too much time on my hands. I shouldn't dwell on such things...Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03173416125918691702noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4706282221761427996.post-50196602432219034422014-08-04T03:22:54.686-07:002014-08-04T03:22:54.686-07:00I loved this movie too and agree with pretty much ...I loved this movie too and agree with pretty much everything you've said about it.

A lot of people forget that James Gunn also wrote the Dawn of the Dead remake which I think is one of the best remakes ever and in many ways better than the original. If you really want to blog about something, check out the 2000 movie "The Specials". It was written by Gunn and directed by Craig Mazin of Hangover sequels and Script Notes fame. I watched it last month and it was easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It fails on every level. The story makes no sense, none of the jokes land and the characters are all either boring or horrible. Seriously, this movie has to be seen to be believed.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08492635041508140973noreply@blogger.com
