I meant to include this scene in yesterday's post, but fortunately I forgot because it's the perfect clip to cap off the week. I don't know if any introduction can do this justice, so I'll just say that this was NOT a dream sequence, it wasn't a hoax or a prank. This actually happened within the show's universe.
Take note how the dog's owner doesn't even seem to notice what's going on.
I'm telling you I remember that scene like it was yesterday. I was like - wtf? - did that just happen? Then I fell over laughing so hard, because it was happening to Dan!! <I still remember him from the original 90210 - he plays the perfect jerk! TGIF!
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is that in season one, Dan had a lot of depth and was a much more complex character. Johannson clearly has fun playing him like a mustache-twirling villain, but the character as conceived was a lot more compelling than the guy whose heart got eaten by a dog.
DeleteI actually thought at the time that I was watching Grey's Anatomy
ReplyDeleteJoe Davola must be off his meds. At least he didn't have a sad clown eat the heart. That would have been ridiculous and creepy.
ReplyDelete"Take note how the dog's owner doesn't even seem to notice what's going on."
ReplyDeleteI initially assumed it was a guide dog...but then the dog owner picks up the two years old People magazine and reads it...
Bad acting, bad editing... even tightening the editing wouldn't have saved this.
ReplyDeleteI love how Lucas has a "Fuck you" look on his face at the end. It's like, "That's what you get!"
ReplyDeleteThe only thing more awesome would have been if they'd made it look like Lucas set up the dog to trip the EMT.
DeleteI'm going to admit that I'm not familiar with this show at all as I have never watched a single episode. But it seems too set up that there is a dog in the hospital. Does he belong to a character or is it a random dog? Is there a purpose for the dog in the hospital other than to have the “dog (literally) ate my heart” story line?
ReplyDeleteMy point might be explained had I been familiar with this show. Then again, if this show is as bad as you say it is, it may not be explained.
Trust me, being familiar with the show doesn't make the scene any less ridiculous. And yes, the dog is randomly there for no good reason.
DeleteOnly in Tree Hill.
ReplyDeleteAnd in Mexico apparently....

This is real??? I thought it was a parody! Wow. Just...wow.
ReplyDeleteNot only did the owner not try to stop the dog, but nobody tried to stop the dog. It was like, oh well, I guess the dog wanted it more than you, buddy.
