Reader Question - How Will I Know If I'm a Good Writer?

I got a question from a 15 year-old reader named Valencia, who asked one of the most basic questions we each face as writers:

"How would I know if I'm a good writer?"

I struggled to find a satisfactory answer for the question, and while I did, Ken Levine gave a far better answer than I could have.  Check it out here:

How do you know if your script is any good?

  1. I've been writing my entire life. I still remember the stories I wrote when I was in elementary school. I have a degree in Theater from USC and took every playwriting and screenwriting course I could while I was there. I've probably finished a dozen features with twice as many half done.

I doubted my writing the whole time. It wasn't until one of my scripts won in Austin last year (at age 34) that I really started thinking of myself as a good writer.
